Editorial Policy
How TanP researches, writes, reviews and updates its water safety and maintenance guides, and how we keep our content independent from advertising.

At TanP, we want every reader to trust what they read. This policy explains how we choose topics, research and write our articles, keep them accurate and separate our editorial work from advertising.
Our editorial mission
Our goal is to give households, landlords, farmers and hobbyists clear, practical and reliable information about storing and using water safely. Every article should answer a real question, be easy to understand and help the reader make a better decision about their tank, their plumbing or the water they use every day.
How we choose topics
Most of our topics come from the questions people actually ask: messages from readers, common search questions and everyday situations — a cloudy tank, algae after a hot summer, a musty smell from the tap, a rainwater system to set up. We prioritise subjects that affect health, safety and the condition of water systems.
Research and sources
- We rely on reputable sources such as public health agencies, drinking-water quality guidelines, environmental agencies, university extension services, manufacturers’ technical documentation and peer-reviewed research.
- We avoid unverified claims, “miracle” products and advice that could put people, animals or property at risk.
- When evidence is limited, regulations differ between countries or experts disagree, we say so clearly.
Writing standards
- Answer first. Articles open with a short, direct answer, followed by the details.
- Plain language. We explain technical terms and avoid unnecessary jargon.
- Practical value. We include step-by-step instructions, checklists, warning signs and clear next steps.
- Safety first. When a task involves chemicals, electricity, confined spaces or possible contamination, we highlight the risks and tell readers when to call a professional.
Water safety and health content
Our articles are written for general information and education. They do not replace laboratory testing, professional inspection or the guidance of your local health authority or water supplier. When drinking water may be unsafe, we always recommend testing it and using a safe alternative in the meantime. Please also read our Disclaimer.
Use of technology
Like many modern publishers, we use digital tools — including AI-assisted research and drafting tools — to help us produce and update content efficiently. These tools never replace our editorial standards: content is checked for clarity, accuracy and usefulness, and we correct problems as soon as we learn about them.
Accuracy, updates and corrections
Recommendations, products and regulations change, and we review and update articles when they do. If you believe something in an article is inaccurate or out of date, please let us know at [email protected]. We review every report and correct confirmed errors promptly.
Independence and advertising
TanP is free to read and is supported by advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over our topics, research or conclusions. Ads are displayed separately from our editorial content, and we do not publish paid content disguised as independent articles. We do not sell water tanks, filters or treatment products.
Feedback
We welcome feedback from our readers. If you have suggestions, questions or concerns about our content, please contact us.
